World Community Service
The World Community Service Committee is one of Rotary International’s nine structured programs designed to help clubs and districts achieve service goals in their communities and in communities abroad. Many opportunities are available to Rotarians to get involved in international fellowship through humanitarian Matching Grants projects.

The WCS process for helping clubs participate and support projects is the Adopt-A-Village (AAV) program. The district supports projects that meet the criteria established by Rotary International. Unique in it’s conception but structured under the Rotary Code of Policies, AAV projects begin with our club members. These Rotarians become champions to guide and assist our district clubs in selecting a humanitarian project, presenting AAV projects at a club meeting and/or putting a personal touch to the project. In addition, the champion communicates with the international Rotary partner who will guide and support the project on site. This is the key to making sure that whatever is given in terms of financial support, donations-in-kind or volunteer support is used to help the people in need.
Goals
- Provide a means for all Rotary Clubs to be able to participate in international projects
- Develop collaborative international projects amongst district Rotary Clubs.
- Identify international service project opportunities.
- Develop and qualify international projects
- Focus district resources on priority projects
- Support a strategy that provides international “villages or regions” with sufficient resources over a sustained period of time that “makes a difference.
- Develop projects that lead to sustainable support.
- Develop support for EREY / giving to the Rotary Foundation Annual Program Funds
Last year Sri Lanka, Ecudaor, India, Kenya and South Africa project were supported and over 20 clubs participated and over $50,000 in Annual Progam Funds were collected as over $130,000 in Rotary Foundation Projects are now being conducted around the world.
We are asking district Clubs to consider supporting or continuing to support the district’s on-going Adopt a Village (AAV) initiative projects in 2007-08. Over $90,000 in District Designated Funds (DDF) has been made available for Matching Grants that support the AAV initiative. The District’s AAV and Matching Grant Committees have identified the areas below for support.
Be part of international projectds and support our District's AAV initiatives. Register your commitment to the Rotary Foundation Annual Programs Fund in support of these proejcts, help your club achieve their EREY committments, assign TRF credits to individual club members and receive Paul Harris credits.
