Allentown-Liberty Bell Club Presents Dictionaries to the Jackson Elementary School
On Thursday, November 12, Club President Maggie Abou-Saif and member Jerry Friedman
visited the Jackson Elementary School in Allentown to present student dictionaries to the four third grade classes at the school. Accompanied by the school's Literacy counselor, Maggie and Jerry explained the purpose of Rotary to each class and that the dictionaries belonged to each student. Each class was then led in a lesson on the use of the dictionary, including how to find words like "rotary". The administration and teachers at the school were very grateful for Rotary's support and the smiles on the children's faces said how much they appreciated having their own book to use in school.
The dictionaries were purchased by a grant from District 7430 and funds from the Allentown-Liberty Bell Club Foundation.

The Rotary District 7430 District Simplified Grant (DSG) Committee, has awarded the Allentown-Liberty Bell Rotary Club a $500 grant to purchase dictionaries for third grade students in the Allentown School District. Approximately 400 dictionaries will be purchased, packed and labeled by club members and delivered to the recipient schools on November 12 where they will be presented to the students.
