Rotary Seeks Candidates for 4-Week Study Exchange in Eastern Europe

Rotary International in Eastern Pennsylvania is seeking four individuals for a Group Study Exchange program in Eastern Europe- specifically Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia.  The four individuals would be part of a five-member team that would study the vocations, culture and people of these Eastern European Countries from April 27-May 26, 2009

“The goal is to build international understanding of various vocations, culture and friendships,” said a statement by District 7430 Governor Bill Weber of Allentown District 7430 consists of the 48 Rotary Clubs in Southeastern Pennsylvania.  “The GSE program is truly a life changing opportunity.  Each person will study how his or her profession or vocation is practiced in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia.”

Travel, lodging and many meals are provided through the Rotary International Foundation.

Applicants for the program “should have a pleasing personality, good presentation and communications skills and be proficient in their professions or vocations,” Weber said.  Rotarians, their employees and their relatives are not eligible for the program.

Ideal team members would be between the ages of 25 and 40, employed full-time in a recognized profession or business and in good health.  Proficiency in the languages of the countries is helpful though this is not a requirement to participate.

About 60,000 individuals have participated in the international program since 1955.

Candidates may download the Rotary GSE Team Member application form at http://www.rotary.org/en/ServiceAndFellowship/Fellowship/GroupStudyExchange/Pages/ridefault.aspx.  Telephone inquiries may be made to 610-360-4875.  Contact hornamca@ptd.net for more information.  The deadline for applications is October 1, 2008.  Completed applications should be sent to Rotary Group Study Committee Chair Cindy Hornaman, P.O. Box 3413, Wescosville, PA  18103.

GSE TEAM GOING TO EASTERN EUROPE IN 2009 –

WHO SHOULD YOU ENCOURAGE TO APPLY???

Your district is recruiting a Group Study Team to go to Eastern Europe [specifically Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia] next year.  This is a wonderful experience for friends and associates of Rotary members.  Some of those who have gone on GSE teams have called it a life changing experience.  It is one of Rotary’s biggest efforts at promoting world peace through understating.  Nearly, 60,000 people have been on one of these GSE teams from Rotary.

Wouldn’t you like some of your acquaintances and friends to have such an experience?  The fact is the vast majority of candidates we get for these teams are people Rotarians know in their daily lives.  So look around for people who would represent the US well and grow from such an experience. Who do you know that would benefit from such a trip?

The team members, who cannot be Rotarians, are what we are seeking now.  We especially want candidates from 25 to 40 years old in a profession or business who would represent the US well in eastern Europe.  See our press release on the District web site for more information.  Or contact me.
