Backpacks
Bethlehem, Reading, Collegeville, and Allentown sponsored Backpack Programs last month to assist students and families in need of assistance with school supplies.
Books and Reading
Newtown Rotary is collecting new and gently used books to benefit the Levittown Homeless Shelter. Books at elementary level are especially appreciated, particularly those that celebrate culture, diversity, and inclusion. Every book makes a difference!
Warrington Rotarians are continuing with the "I Like Me" Kindergarten reading program.
West Reading Wyomissing utilized a grant from the Rotary International Foundation to estable five (5) registered Little Free Library book sharing boxes in the community. Click here to read the complete story.
Reading and Spring Township Centennial also have Little Libraries in their communities.
Quakertown supported local schools this year with the purchase of 25 headphones for the new year.

Ambler Rotary was proud to sponsor three students in these RYLA programs this past summer.
Service and Community
National Night Out was August 5th, and the Allentown West Rotary volunteers had fun raising nearly $300 for the Parkland CARES Food Pantry through hot dog, snack, and drink sales. The food was donated by Lehigh Valley Water Systems.
Collegeville is seeking volunteers to help weed, clear debris, and take down old beds at the Skippack Elementary school Learning Garden on 9/7 and 9/21.
Norristown is having a used bicycle and sewing machine collection on 9/27 in West Norriton. NRC awarded over $17,000 to local organizations in August. The Norristown Hospitality Center received $10,200 and the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project (MCAP) received $6,800.
The North Penn Community Information Center in Lansdale continues to be a valuable asset to the town. This month there's a spotlight on Easterseals of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Fleetwood Rotary collected shoe donations during the
ir summer social for scout Troop #103. The shoes will be donated to support micro-economies in developing countries like Haiti, Ukraine, Peru, and more.
Potato Project Harvest! We are harvesting potatoes to be donated to local food pantries on September 21 from 1-5 pm. Invite your family & friends for this rewarding and fun service day. Bring gloves and wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.

Easton Rotary recently celebrated Peace by dedicating a new Peace Pole in Centre Square.
Hamburg Rotary is calling for submissions to the Community Paint Day on 10/11. Artists may submit their 4'x8' panels for a mural that celebrates Hamburg Community, History, and Culture.
Reading Rotarians are busy planning for the Fall Fest at Essick Park this coming October.
There will be a Party-In-The-Park (Souderton Community Park) on 9/13. The event is run by the Souderton-Telford Rotary and will provide guests with free ice cream, a concert, and a drone light show. Check out how they promoted this event.

Perkasie held its 3rd Annual Run Out of the Darkness 5K/10K on August 24. Proceeds from the race benefitted the suicide prevention work of NAMI Bucks County.
Riders:
Central Bucks is holding their Ride for Heroes. Motorcyclists will begin the ride at Peddlers Village in Lahaska and end at the Logan Inn in New Hope. Proceeds benefit veteran organizations, the families of fallen heroes, and the Central Bucks Rotary Foundation.
