D7430 Rotary Youth Service Award Info
D7430 Rotary Youth Service Award Info 2019-20
To D7430 Club Presidents,
There are two club recognition awards which we strongly encourage you to apply for in the next month.  The first is the Rotary Citation which I sent information to you last week and will follow up during May.  The second is the District 7430 Rotary Club Youth Service Award which is detailed in this email.  Attached are the award requirements and the application form that needs to be filled out and returned to me by June 15.
There are nine areas or defined programs where a club can earn credit toward a youth achievement.  The list includes specifically defined District programs such as Interact/Rotaract and more general areas where the details are more specifically defined at the club level such as child hunger mitigation.  There are four levels of recognition as follows : Platinum – 9 items, Gold – 8 items, Silver – 7 items and Bronze – 5 items.
Due to COVID-19, we have changed three of the nine program standards for the award, since these activities either had to be cancelled or curtailed this year.  The revised standards for these three youth programs are:
  • Four-way Test Speech Contest - Either held a club contest this year (2020) or last year (2019)
  • Camp Neidig - Sponsored at least two students last year (2019)
  • Interact/Rotaract - Reduced the number of joint projects from two to one
We have also added a tenth category on the application form to list any other youth program that your club leads that was not covered by the original nine defined programs.
Both the Rotary Citation and the Rotary Youth Service Award are achievable at some level by virtually every club in our district.  Lets celebrate and be recognized for all the great programs for our youth and the service to our communities!
If you have any questions or either club award, don't hesitate to contact me.
Yours in Rotary,
DG Herb
